The wishy-washiness of the phrase "evidence-based medicine" is exactly why Steven Novella coined the phrase "science-based medicine." Not only do you need good evidence, but you shouldn't spend research money to look into spiritual or metaphysical treatment modalities that lack even a kernel of prior plausibility. "Evidence" is becoming a very watered-down term in a lot of fields these days. It's almost even a buzzword sometimes.
Ewwwww acupuncture.
