I'm sure it'll be a shock learning that your 7-month-old puppy you brought in for a routine spay has a heart condition.Julie Ladahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08377742107716763623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817437838059427836.post-54573707949573887292013-02-23T11:46:54.064-04:002013-02-23T11:46:54.064-04:00being able to do an EKG in a regular vet's off...being able to do an EKG in a regular vet's office and have it interpreted somewhere else was a real surprise to me. Saved me a trip to the cardiologist and made me feel that much more confident that I've finally chosen the right vet.LadyAtheisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12132821431322748921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1817437838059427836.post-25551094017787862012013-02-22T21:43:37.975-04:002013-02-22T21:43:37.975-04:00The anesthesia protocol bit is especially importan...The anesthesia protocol bit is especially important. Thank goodness my partner and I decided to induce with alfalaxazone instead of propofol. My vet did an EKG in his office then e-mailed the results to a cardiologist, along with his anesthesia protocol before doing her dental surgery. She sailed through it (she was a mere 15-1/2 at the time). This dog had previously gone to my woo medicine vet, who just said she had a slow heartbeat (which she also has). But she has spent so much time and money on woo crap she had no idea what to do with the heart. (The diagnosis was some vagal nerve thing - not a block I think)

So good for you and congratulations to you and your partner and your patient!LadyAtheisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12132821431322748921noreply@blogger.com
